Liceul Tehnologic „Constantin Brâncuşi”
Satu Mare, România
- The school has a tradition of one hundred years of its existence. It is a technical professional upper secondary school. It has almost 700 students and 80 teachers and employers staff. The school is very big, it spreads over a large domain. It has two main buildings with classes of students and one large workshop where students do and keep their practice. It is considered very important for students to put into practice what they have learned in the laboratories or theory classes. Also they have one week or two per semester of practice in factories where they see the real mechanism of carpentry, wood manufacturing.
In the two buildings mentioned above there are not only simple classrooms, but also some laboratories (physics, informatics, biology, chemistry, ecological science and wood manufacturing). There is a library where students can study in their free time, borrow books, etc.
In the school yard there is a boarding and a canteen. The students mainly are commuters, because they live quite far from the city. The students are between 15 and 19 years old and even older because the school has evening classes too. The high-school has different profiles from carpentry, furniture designer, forestry , wooden manufacturing to environmental protection. All the profiles are dealing with wood or environment. Also it is worth mentioning that we have Hungarian classes, one class per each level so we are a bilingual school where Romanian and Hungarian students learn together. The students come from all over the district to study at this school, mostly come from disorganized families and have a poor social status. The students are very well-prepared in this domain and this school had many national olympics at the technological subjects they study. The students focus mainly on the profile subjects because they study from 10 to 15 hours per week on technical subjects and the general subjects like foreign languages are left aside. This project is an important opportunity for them to study and practice English language in real context.

Almende College, locatie Isala
Almende College, locatie Isala is a high school (havo, vwo, gymnasium) in „de Achterhoek”‘, a mainly rural area at the eastern part of he country. We have approximately 1000 students and 100 staff members (teachers, management, support). We are a high school for students at the age of 12 – 18 aiming at giving each student the kind of education he or she needs to reach his or her havo- or vwo-diploma.
We aim at being an international school with 20 years of international exchanges for all our students. To maintain our high international standard we participate in the ELOS network, as well as in several national and international networks of (our own) partnerschools. In addition students can choose to participate in our „international stream”, giving them the opportunity to further elaborate their international skills. The international department is run by four teachers and one staff member. This project is suited very well for our HAVO (higher vocational) students. We organise an international exchange for all our students. To do this we have a special international department at our school with four members. The teachers in this department constantly work on their professionalism by attending meetings, conferences and courses in the Netherlands and abroad.

The German school is a lower secondary school with students from 10 to 16 years. After their final exams they will either continue with vocational school and doing an apprenticeship at the same time or they can go on with upper secondary education and eventually go to university. The curriculum includes subjects like maths, science, foreign languages, but also arts, music and physical education. There are also many extracurricular activities in the field of sports, arts, music and social behaviour.
The students run their own coffee shop and so learn how to manage a company. Every year the students support the local community in different ways in order to gain social competence. There is also a cooperation with the University of Education in Schwäbisch Gmünd because students from this university do their teachers’ training at this school and they are supervised by their professors.
Another cooperation takes place between local companies and the school because the students do their interships there. This school works with the University of Education which will help them when it comes to evaluating the project and they will be in contact as far as the project work is concerned.
