The school has a tradition of one hundred years of its existence. It is a technical professional upper secondary school. It has almost 700 students and 80 teachers and employers staff. The school is very big, it spreads over a large domain. It has two main buildings with classes of students and one large workshop where students do and keep their practice. It is considered very important for students to put into practice what they have learned in the laboratories or theory classes. Also they have one week or two per semester of practice in factories where they see the real mechanism of carpentry, wood manufacturing.
In the two buildings mentioned above there are not only simple classrooms, but also some laboratories (physics, informatics, biology, chemistry, ecological science and wood manufacturing). There is a library where students can study in their free time, borrow books, etc.
In the school yard there is a boarding and a canteen. The students mainly are commuters, because they live quite far from the city. The students are between 15 and 19 years old and even older because the school has evening classes too. The high-school has different profiles from carpentry, furniture designer, forestry , wooden manufacturing to environmental protection. All the profiles are dealing with wood or environment. Also it is worth mentioning that we have Hungarian classes, one class per each level so we are a bilingual school where Romanian and Hungarian students learn together. The students come from all over the district to study at this school, mostly come from disorganized families and have a poor social status. The students are very well-prepared in this domain and this school had many national olympics at the technological subjects they study. The students focus mainly on the profile subjects because they study from 10 to 15 hours per week on technical subjects and the general subjects like foreign languages are left aside. This project is an important opportunity for them to study and practice English language in real context.
